Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Japanese-speaking social media manager to work with World Rugby ahead of the World Cup in Japan in 2019. We are looking for someone who can translate Japanese content with 100% accuracy and confidence, as well as write Japanese subtitles and copy. The ideal candidate will know social media platforms inside out and have good knowledge of the Japanese social media market. We are looking for someone who can contribute to content ideas and creation, as well as drive social media strategy in this important market.

 

Key skills and knowledge:

  • Fluent Japanese speaker with ability to translate from English to Japanese, and vice versa with good speed and accuracy

  • Ability to write in Japanese for subtitles and copy

  • Strong writing techniques to capture particular audiences and navigate tone of voice

  • Strong knowledge and experience of digital publishing software and techniques

  • Excellent understanding of all relevant platforms - YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat

  • Knowledge of Japanese social media market

  • Strong copywriting skills including excellent spelling and grammar, as well as writing techniques to capture particular audiences

  • Keen, ongoing awareness and interest in trends across social media, digital publishing, online video and sports output internationally

  • Experience of social media strategy, KPIs and goals to increase a digital audience and engagement

  • Knowledge of rugby union desirable but not essential

  • Contribute to creative ideas for video content as part of output strategy

  • Planning social content and maintaining the content calendar to ensure social media content is regular, relevant and engaging

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in a client-facing role

  • Knowledge of video editing and graphics (Adobe) would be beneficial

 

General:

  • Work flexible days, according to the appropriate sports-related calendar

  • Able to perform under pressure and to work to tight timescales

  • Be a good communicator with strong relationship management skills

  • 3-4+ years' experience

  • Expert knowledge of PHP 5/7, MySQL and OOP

  • Ability to write in both HTML and CSS

  • Interpretation and editing of JavaScript

  • Modern PHP frameworks experience

  • Linux command line knowledge

  • Experience writing technical briefs, estimates, time-lines and documentation

  • Ability to work closely with the design team, analysts and clients to develop technical strategies and achievable designs

  • Strong communication skills. ability to translate analytics into clear actionable insights for a range of partners, from social and production staff to C-suite customers

  • Excellent knowledge of video and social media, and the ability to adapt quickly to new trends in the industry

  • Flexible work ethic, work may require occasional travel or weekend work

Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a content producer to work in the motorsport sector to create engaging digital content for a range of platforms. We’re looking for someone who can manage a project from idea to execution: from concept and plan, to self-shooting, producing on location and interviewing, right through to edit. You should be comfortable dealing with clients, and delivering high-quality content on time and to specification. The ideal candidate will have a strong editorial sense and will know what works well across a variety of digital platforms, and have the technical skills to bring these ideas to life.

 

Key skills and knowledge:

  • Experience shooting on cameras such as FS7, BM, A7S or similar

  • Experience using Adobe Premiere to produce short and longer form edits

  • Familiarity with exporting of digital video files and compression

  • Experience of YouTube channel management and optimisation best practices (video SEO and thumbnail creation) beneficial

  • Keen, ongoing awareness and interest in trends across social media, online video and sports output internationally

  • Strong communication skills both within the internal team and with clients and contributors

  • Knowledge of media law

  • Strong editorial sensibility – able to identify strong content that will perform well on digital/social platforms (YouTube etc)

Engage Sports Media (ESM) is a digital agency that works with rights owners and brands to produce and deliver engaging video content across a variety of media. ESM has offices in London and Mumbai and currently employs over fifty members of staff. Our client base includes: World Rugby, Godolphin, Mountain Dew, Goodwood Road & Racing, Arsenal FC, Emirates Team New Zealand, British Rowing and Major League Baseball (MLB).

We are looking to offer a select few the chance to sample life in our West London office on an unpaid two-week work shadowing placement. You will spend a fortnight working with our Audience Development & Social Media team observing how we take an engaging piece of content and deliver it to the maximum possible audience.

You will observe the process of optimising social channels, posting online content, dealing with copy for clients and understanding audiences.

This opportunity would suit current and recent graduates of Journalism, Film Production or Media undergraduate/postgraduate courses. Ideally you would be passionate about sport and have an in-depth knowledge of social media to give you the best possible head start.
